Dr. Mrs. Mahishi Nanayakkara MBBS, MSc, FRACGP

Dr. Banduni Mahishi Nanayakkara  MBBS, MSc, FRACGP

She counts 22 years as a medical practitioner in various medical fields and have experience in management of acute, chronic and multiple medical problems in General practice relating to all ages.

During her medical carrier she has worked in many teaching Hospitals in Australia and Sri Lanka and have had the opportunity to teach medical students in numerous occasions. Her postings in NSW Hospitals include Sydney children’s Hospital, Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Ryde Hospital where she was engaged in various specialties of Medicine including, Surgery,  Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Emergency Medicine etc. She has also worked as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at the Wellington District Hospital, NSW.

She has worked in regional areas of NSW and Sydney suburbs as a General Practitioner and currently practicing in Kings Langley. As a general practitioner her interests are in all aspects of general practice and family medicine.  Her special interests include women’s a, pediatrics, geriatriatrics and chronic complex disease management.

She likes to take a holistic approach to patient caring and focus on lifestyle modification when managing preventable diseases.

In addition to the MBBS Dr. Mahishi has completed an MSc in Community Medicine and Fellowship of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr. Mahishi enjoys working within high professional standards and extremely personable and enjoys forming good, sincere relationships with patients for longer term care. She is community-spirited, and  fluent in both English and Sinhala and welcomes you to come in and see her. She is a member of the International Association of Lions Clubs and have engaged in various humanitarian services to the community. 

 

 

Dr ‘Nishan’ Nishantha  Abeydeera MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Nishan has been working at the Kings Langley Family Practice since August 2014, and he is a well experienced GP, enjoying all aspects of General Practice with primary interests in Men’s Health, Skin Cancer, Paediatrics etc. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

He started working in Australia as a General Practitioner (GP) in year 2011 and prior to that he was attached to the Emergency Department (ED) of the Swan District Hospital in Perth since 2009. Dr. Nishan graduated in 2001 and thereafter worked in Government and Navy Hospitals in Sri Lanka for eight years, prior to migrating to Australia in 2009.

Doctor Nishan likes to listen to patients to feel as though they can spend time talking about their medical concerns, so that he can guide them for wellbeing and for potential optimisation of their quality of health.

Dr Kosalai Baskaran is a committed professional enjoying the variety and complexities of modern General Practice. She has a special interest in Women’s Health. Paediatrics, Geriatrics, Mental Health, chronic disease management, and minor surgical procedures including skin cancer etc.

Prior to settling down in Australia in 2002, Dr Kosalai completed her medical degree and obtained her post-graduate experience in a variety of medical disciplines in hospitals. In Australia she worked in a range of disciplines in Westmead, Black Town, Mt Druitt Hospitals and thereafter as a VMO in Cowra Hospital. During this time, she also underwent Psychiatric training at the NSW Western Health Service for two years and worked at Head Space; an Australia Based NGO.

She holds a Fellowship in General Practice (RACGP) and a Diploma in Child Health. Apart from being fluent in English, Dr. Kosalai also speak Tamil. She worked in general practice serving varied communities during last six years. Her passion is to know her patients well and offer comprehensive and high quality patient care at all times.   

 

Dr Nausheen Talpur Ahmed MBBS FRACGP

Dr Nausheen commenced working at the Kings Langley Family Practice as a General Practitioner in July 2016. Before that she completed her General Practice Training as a GP Registrar in Regional New South Wales & passed her Fellowship Examinations in Flying colours. As a Junior Doctor, she completed her Internship & residency in Westmead Hospital with rotations in Blacktown & Auburn Hospitals.

Dr Nausheen enjoys the continuity of care that General Practice offers & she provides holistic care. Apart from being fluent in English she can also speak Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi & Sindhi. She has special interest in Women's health, Paediatrics & preventative medicine but loves all aspects of General Practice.

Dr Amali Navaratna  - MBBS FRACGP DCH

Dr Navaratna is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). She has 10 years of experience as a medical practitioner.

Prior to postgraduate training in general practice, she has worked in multiple disciplines in various Sydney hospitals during her resident years. She also has completed the Diploma in Child health at Sydney Children's network of hospitals and University of Sydney.

She has experience in General medicine, General surgery, Critical care and General practice in both metropolitan and regional NSW. While her special interests are acute primary care, paediatrics, women's health, mental health, skin cancer medicine and management of chronic disease, she strives to provide quality holistic care to all her patients

Ashley is an Exercise Physiologist with a passion for helping individuals becoming healthier, happier, stronger versions of themselves. With two degrees, a Bachelor of Health Science (majoring in Exercise & Sports Science) and a Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology (majoring in Rehabilitation) Ashley can help assist with managing the effects of many conditions including:

Kay Chiam - Dietitian and Nutritionist

Kay Chiam is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Nutritionist. After obtaining her Bachelor of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Queensland and her Master of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Sydney, she has accrued a wealth of related experience and earned a reputation as someone who is both knowledgeable and effective in her field.

She specializes in chronic disease management, with a focus on metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis. With an eye towards providing long-term, whole- body assistance, she also consults regarding weight management and general nutrition.

Kay believes strongly that for a diet to be sustainable, it needs to be enjoyable. She helps her clients to establish healthy eating habits that will improve health and quality of life. Incorporating into her work a variety of cuisines and cultural backgrounds, including Asian and Western food, she offers advice that is practical for people from any background and with any special restrictions. She understands well, the importance that many people place on cultural appropriateness when it comes to nutrition and food intake.

Pooja Shrestha Pradhan – Registered Nurse

Pooja is a registered nurse who is passionate about her profession and what she can contribute to help her Patients. Her ultimate aspiration is to make a positive difference in patient's health. She has experience working in ICU/CCU in hospitals and have also had close to five years’ experience in an aged care. She is originally from Nepal.

 

Tim Perry - Clinical Pharmacists

Tim grew up in country NSW, completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in Brisbane then moved to Sydney “temporarily” (30 years ago) to complete further studies. He owned and operated a community pharmacy for over 17 years. His pharmacy was focussed almost entirely on helping older people stay as healthy as possible.  After selling his pharmacy he began working more closely with the western Sydney Primary Health Network,WentWest, and is proud to be working with them to improve utilisation of the unique skills of Consultant Pharmacists working in General Practice.

Tim’s mission is to help people stay as healthy as they can be by combining just the right amount of medication with realistic diet and exercise options. He has access to the world’s largest collection of studies about vitamins and supplements and his happy to provide you with the latest evidence around herbs, vitamin and other “health food” items.  If you have any questions about your medications or vitamins, or would like Tim to review your all your current medications, speak the the reception team, or ask your doctor.

Karen Reeves - Assistant Practice Manager 

Karen started at Kings Langley Family Practice in June 2015. She comes to the practice with an administration background in her working life, with a strong interest in the medical industry. In 2014 Karen completed a First Aid and Triage course before she started her first role as a Medical Receptionist. She is always calm, friendly and willing to help patients and staff at all times.

Shaily Modi - Medical Reception / Administration 

Shaily is an enthusiastic member of our team who has been with us for over two years. She really enjoys interacting with new people and is strongly passionate about helping them by addressing their health concerns using her knowledge and skills in health. This is also why she really enjoys being at reception at our Kings Langley Family Practice. She has recently completed her studies and graduated as a Podiatrist. Shaily aspires to be a highly skilled Podiatrist with great knowledge who can play a tremendous role in enhancing the quality of life for her patients. Along with her high interest in health, Shaily also enjoys dancing, learning new activities and travelling to different places as well as learning about different cultures and languages.

Lisa McManus - Medical Reception / Administration 

Lisa started work at Kings Langley Family Practice on August 2014 on the first day of Kings Langley Family Practice. She has a strong history in Medical Reception and Administration and has worked in the industry for over 11 years. Lisa is a happy and friendly member of the team who enjoys working and with the Patients and Staff. 

Leanne Olley - Medical Reception / Administration

Leanne joined Kings Langley Family Practice in August 2016 with four years experience in medical reception administration experience. She has completed first aid, CPR and triage training. Leanne is always happy, friendly and there to help.
